The quality of water reaching homes in Spain is very good from the standpoint of microbiological (bacterial contamination) but very variable from the chemical viewpoint. In some areas, such as the north is very good, and in other regions presents some problems.
Of these problems, the key is the content of lime. When is very high it is said that the water is hard.
Hard water is quite harmful in many ways. For the pipe itself produces serious problems. The deposit within the walls can cause partial obstruction.
Appliances that reduce their water use efficiency. For example, it takes a lot more detergent in a dishwasher.
Ideally, place a filter softener when we live in an area that has that problem. The quality and prices vary widely but it is very important to have this option in mind.
